Multi-Faith Forum on Climate Change

BACK
Event date: 9 September 2023
Event time: 1.30pm

In amongst the news reports about the ice melting around Antarctica while wild fires devastate Italy, Greece, Canada and
Hawaii and floods occur from the Kimberley to Myanmar have you ever wondered how spiritual beliefs can guide understandings and responses?
A Multi-Faith Forum in September will help to unpack key religious and other spiritual motivations for wanting to respect and protect the sacred earth which sustains us all. Presenters include Prof Peter Newman (Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute and Anglican EcoCare Commission) and Dr Richard Yin (Doctors for the Environment). Representatives of diverse faith or spirituality groups including Aboriginal and Christian perspectives, Sheikh Muhammad Agherdien (Islamic scholar) and Mujyo Williams (Perth Zen Centre Jizoan) will bring insights from their traditions and indicate some of the responses being made in their communities.
