If you’re not familiar with the term, sexual extortion or ‘sextortion’ is a form of blackmail where someone threatens to share a nude or sexual image or video of you unless you give in to their demands. If you are parent of a child/teen on a Social Media platform, particularly Snap Chat or Instagram, then this is something you’ll want to be aware of and ensure your child is as well.

Daniel Principe from Collective Shout travels to schools across Australia and he said just yesterday in a Perth school “I was hearing from boys that this has happened to them, smart boys, from good schools, from good homes this is happening to them…such is the nature of the Internet, it is unfortunately boys being preyed on, susceptible because of what they’re consuming (digitally) what they’re imagining, how they’re thinking in that moment.”
