Uber car sharing has become a popular mode of transportation in many cities around the world. It’s a convenient way to get around without having to own a car, and it’s also a cost-effective option for those who don’t want to pay for taxis or public transportation. However, one of the downsides of ridesharing is that if you leave something in the car, you’re probably not going to get it back!
Recently, Uber announced the most common things left behind by passengers in their cars. According to the ride-hailing company, the most common items left behind are clothing, phones, cameras, handbags, luggage, and make-up. The most common time for passengers to leave items behind is 1 am, which is usually when people are returning home from a night out.
Uber also revealed which Australian cities have the worst habits when it comes to leaving items behind. According to their data, Brisbane is the most organised, with the fewest items left behind. On the other hand, Sydney is the least organised, with the most items left behind.
But it’s not just the usual suspects that are left behind in Uber cars.
The list of strange items that passengers have forgotten is truly bizarre. Some of the weirdest items include Harry Styles tickets (hopefully this poor concert attendee got to go!), a phone number written on a piece of paper next to a note saying “might be the love of my life”, a wedding dress, medication for a rabbit, an Olympic gold medal, an electric scooter, a taxidermy cat, sausage paste, a painting of Marilyn Monroe, false teeth, a chainsaw, a cattle whip, a lectern, a tray of lasagne, hair extensions, DJ decks, a jockstrap, and even a robotic pool cleaner.
Out of all of these items, Jeziel was particularly fixated on the taxidermy cat. He said, “I just can’t imagine trying to contact the driver to say ‘Oh sorry, I think I left old Bob on the back seat'”.
Interestingly, one passenger even managed to forget a fridge in an Uber car. This led Jeziel and Bec to wonder how this was even possible. “Are there ride-sharing cars that include a trailer?” they asked. If not, maybe this could be Jeziel’s next big business idea. It just goes to show that people can forget anything, no matter how large or small.
It’s always a good idea to double-check that you haven’t left anything behind when you’re using ride-sharing services like Uber. And if you’re a driver, make sure you check your car thoroughly after each passenger has left, just in case they’ve forgotten something. You never know what kind of strange and unusual items you could pick up!
